Distant Journeys of the Cultural Exchange

Join us for a free cultural art gala event that celebrates arts from around the world to celebrate the new art gallery exhibition of curated by The Cultural Exchange.
The community is invited to this cultural arts event where we will premiere the new Indigenous Bridges art gallery exhibition, “Distant Journeys of Cultural Exchange” at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center.

This live event reflects the theme of cultural exchange of historical art across Southeast Asia which highlights journeys of inter-cultural relationships of different communities in the distant past and more contemporary times

Through object storytelling, viewers will begin by retracing prehistoric canoe trade networks that once flourished between peoples of Philippines, Indonesia,Vietnam, Taiwan, and the Southeast Asia region.

Artist and curator Anthonie Tumpag draws upon these cultural connections through conteemporary art.
